We are now looking forward to the National Finals, as well as the new and exciting opportunities that the accolade will bring.

With so many builders in the Cambridge area, how do you choose who is best? And what’s more with so many horror stories around how do you know who you can trust?

Well, D.G. Building (East Cambs) Ltd are a local company who has recently been crowned the regional winner at the prestigious LABC Regional Building Excellence Awards. They are now looking forward to the National Finals, as well as the new and exciting opportunities that the accolade will bring.

The awards night was held in the beautiful surroundings of the Grand Banquet Hall at Kings College in Cambridge and rewarded the high standards maintained by companies and professionals in the building industry from across East Anglia.

‘We can’t wait to meet new clients and architects who may not have been aware of us before’

Company director David Gipp said: “At the end of the day there are many great builders in the area who do great work. However, not all of them have the capability to run efficient projects, which in turn means that budgets and programmes are met.

extensions

Extending our homes has become ever more popular recently as people look to create the home they want without having to move. On this project we doubled the size of the house by adding a two storey extension to the side of the property and a single storey sun room to the rear. We used materials and finishes to match in with the existing property to ensure that the extension didn’t just look ‘bolted on’.

bay windows

On this project we sympathetically replaced the frontage of a 17th century property. The existing bay window structures (black and red timber as shown) were rotten and leaking but the clients were concerned that a new installation would take away from the character of the house. We consulted designed and installed this new frontage and the both the client and the villagers expressed their delight with the results!!

kitchens

Full kitchen refurbishments add value and a new lease of life to your home. There are so many storage and finish options available now that the kitchen is becoming the most popular room in the home. With new plasterwork and floor and wall tiling you can create a bright and functional space. Here aresome pictures of a projectthat we recently completed:

out with the new in with the old!

On this project we removed a modern looking bathroom and replaced it with a new one using traditional methods and sanitry ware  to create a victorian styled room to match the character of the existing property.

Making the most of the land you have!! We knocked down a dilapidated outhouse and replaced it with this extension which doubled the size of the existing bungalow. A new kitchen, utility and bathrooms have created a whole new living area to the property.

patio

From a weary lawn to an attractive and functional patio area with linked pathways in just a few days…………..

thinking green…..

ENERGY EFFICICIENT INSTALLATIONS HAVE BECOME REGULAR PROJECTS FOR US OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS AS PEOPLE BECOME MORE CONSCIOUS OF THE ENVIRONMENT, AND THE RISING COST OF THEIR ENERGY BILLS! MANY PEOPLE LIVING IN SOLID WALL HOUSES DO NOT REALISE THAT THEY CAN LINE THE WALLS OF THEIR PROPERTY WITH INSULATION TO INCREASE THE U VALUE OF THEIR HOMES. CLIENTS ARE DELIGHTED WITH THE RESULTS AS PROPERTIES RETAIN HEAT AND THE ENERGY BILLS GO DOWN! AS YOU CAN SEE FROM OUR PICTURES WITH JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS WORK WE CAN BE IN AND OUT AND AFTER A LICK OF PAINT YOU WOULD HARDLY KNOW WE’D BEEN THERE!! PLEASE CONTACT US FOR DETAILS AND REFERENCES FOR THIS KIND OF WORK………………

building the foundations of another job….

adding a sun room to the side of a property. Seemed like a good idea on such a sunny day!

“Buy or Build?” that is the question……..

With winter starting to feel like it may have an end to it after all, and the financial strain of December and January fading in to the distance,  this is the time people are most likely to start looking at for their new house, or at starting that dream improvement project to the one they already have.

Spring is the ideal time to start looking in to any extension or alteration ideas you may have so that designs can be in place and ready to go for the summer.  Also a fresh update to a kitchen or bathroom will make the difference for those ‘not so’ sunny days!!

so……..do you start hunting around for the ideal property, or invest the time and money in creating the home you want without the upheaval of moving house?
